Fun Times Part II

Today, Eli thought it was a lot of fun to jump off his bed. I don't know why except, he's a boy and that's what boys do. LOL If it involves, running, jumping, or cars, he's into it!

Fun Times

We were having fun playing this evening. I even have my own personal stylist!

And we all know how much fun it is to climb on Mommy.

"Come on Daddy! JUMP!"

Two Year Appointment

Elijah had his two-year appointment on Monday (yes, a month and one day late). He's growing like a weed - seriously!

Despite having the sniffles, he is doing fabulously. He continues to grow near the 75th percentile in both height and weight, and his brains are keeping up too! In many areas of the "expected two-year-old behaviors and actions," he has surpassed the expectations by months!

Currently, our little boy is 31 pounds and 36" tall (both just under the 75th percentile on the growth charts. His Praast head continues at 20" in circumference, which falls at about the 92nd percentile. :)

Playing and Saying Hello

Not much to say, really. I got Photoshop Elements 7 for my birthday and have been trying to figure it out since. Tonight I was playing with a picture of Eli from last night's bathtime. I'm no pro, but it's fun anyway. Here's a picture of my handsome little guy.

This one is my favorite. I'm not sure why, but I really like the black and white better.

A proud parenting moment & general update

It is fun watching your little boy grow up! We had another example of his creativity and problem solving abilities tonight as we were getting him ready for bed. We were in his room, when Jess asked him if he could reach the light switch and turn the light off. He walked over, stretched as high as he could, looked at us, then left the room. We just sat there dumbfounded looking at each other wondering where he was off to.

It wasn't long after hearing the bathroom door open that he reappeared in his doorway with his little step stool in tow! He couldn't reach the switch but had figured out a way so that he could. Talk about good problem solving abilities!

Not much else is new around here.
We've moved to the phase where we are crossing our fingers and hoping that we are both still employed this time next year. Seems that in these tough times, not even the education field is safe from layoffs (referred to as RIFs). Because of budget shortfalls and (most likely) cuts from the government in the upcoming year, my district may RIF up to 10% of their current teaching staff. This wouldn't be a big deal if I weren't in a small district comprising of only 400ish classroom teachers. The one good thing I have going for me is that the initial cut is made by seniority which is based on total years teaching not just years within the district. Whew. This does not make me feel a whole lot better, however I will have accrued 5.83 years experience by the end of June. That does take some of the stress off, but not entirely. As for Jess, he works for the big B. It's a waiting game to see what happens.

Addictions

As many of you know, Eli has this addiction with cars (both Matchbox and the Disney movie) and fish. Tonight we were "watching" Planet Earth while we were playing after dinner. His chosen car for the moment was his second medium sized McQueen (side note: he has 5 different sizes of McQueen cars) and keep holding it up, eyes forward, saying "Fishey's McQueen, Fishies!"

This went on for about 10 minutes.

Impressionable

We were in the car on the way home from the store this afternoon when Jess sneezed. Without missing a beat, from the backseat we heard Eli say "Bless you, Daddy." It was the sweetest thing!

It goes to show you just how much kids pick up from our daily actions.

What a such a sweet boy.
