Our Little Loves

It's been pretty quiet around here lately.  Well, as quiet as a house with a five year old and almost twelve week old can be.  Tonight while I was folding diapers and getting them put away when Aerosmith's song "I
Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" came on.  Don't get me wrong, I have heard this song a million times, afterall, Armageddon is one of my favorite movies.  Tonight, however, was the first time that it brought a tear to my eye thinking about my sweet, sweet boys.

I could lie awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
Well you're far away dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
And just stay here lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure

[Chorus]
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I know one's children is not why this song was written, but I couldn't help but think about how much our boys mean to me.  They are our world.  They are so precious and darling.  Everything about them, from their amazingly sweet smiles to their most distressed cries.  I could watch them sleep for hours on end, and yes, the smiles while they sleep warm my heart.  I don't want to miss a moment of their lives.  We are so lucky be their parents.

Eli loves Cars2.  He has many of the cars and could play with them for hours on end.

Cooper has been drooling for about two weeks now.  He has a little white bump on his lower gums.  Yes, I do believe it is his first tooth.  It's hard and pointy and sharp.  We'll see what happens in the next little bit.  Two and a half months is a little young to be getting teeth, isn't it!?

Our darling little Cougar.

He is a happy, happy little boy.

Big brother, a little "too cool" for the camera.

Sunshine in Seattle

Today was absolutely beautiful.  I don't think I saw a single cloud in the sky all day.  Since it was so nice, the boys and I decided to head out and go for a walk.  I was quite thankful today was so nice because Little C had a really hard time napping this morning and knowing his past experience in the stroller, figured we might as well give that a try.  After a while, he did end up falling asleep for about 20 minutes.  I guess something is better than nothing.

We had a lot of this come noon today.  Poor kid has been fighting sleep so hard.

Happily pushing his little brother.
(No, I did not ask him to, he wanted to push him around.)

Enjoying the ride.

Boy do those big blue eyes melt my heart.
I love my boys so much!

And of course I love him and his big brown eyes.
Now, that tooth on the other hand...he's rammed it and jammed it so many times, it is dropping like crazy and is loose.  It looks like it is dying.  Not really news though, the dentist said it would probably happen when we took him in after the major crash and burn.  I bet it won't be too long before it falls out.

Still enjoying pushing him even though he's crying, again.

I hope he sleeps well tonight.

Guess Who's Two Months!

That's right, Cooper!!!

Actually, his official two month mark was last week, but with the snow and ice we had to reschedule his two-month well baby check for today.  Wow, this little one has been doing a LOT of growing over the last month.  You might remember Cooper's one month milestones and his one month well baby stats.

Over the last month his head circumference has grown an inch and a quarter, grew an inch in length, and gained nearly three pounds!  Seriously.  His official numbers are:

  • Head circumference: 16 inches
  • Length: 23 inches
  • Weight: 11pounds, 13ounces

He was a real trooper for Dr. A, too.  Actually, for the first five minutes he was in the room with us, Cooper was all smiles and was chatting up a storm.  It was quite cute.

Things he has mastered over the last month:
  • Very social!  He loves to smile and "laugh" at people.  Still waiting for his first belly laugh, but it's coming!
  • Loves to talk, especially after a diaper change.  He will tell you story after story.
  • Continues tummy time, but not a big fan.
  • Lots of body control.  Loves to suck, chew on his hands - usually as a fist or base of his thumb, way back on his hand.  Great neck control.
  • LOVES his brother and can watch him for extended amounts of time.
  • Quiet observer - he loves to watch what's going on.

Eli Quotes

Eli comes up with some of the funniest things sometimes and I always mean to write them down and always forget them by the time I get around to posting.  Today he had a couple of whoppers.

We have had the most wintry of winter weather over the last week.  The past 6 days have been filled with excessive amounts of snow, ice, rain, and wind.  This morning the majority of the snow and ice had finally melted away, but were in the midst of a wind advisory - expecting gusts into the 50 mile an hour range.  We were thankful we made it through the worst of the snow and ice keeping our power and hoped we would fare the same today.  As we were sitting around, he asked me, "What do you want this evening?"  Thinking he was referring to dinner, I said "Broccoli Cheddar Soup," since that was what we were going to have.  I went on to ask him what he would like.  His response?  "Power!"  HAHA

There was something else that really got me laughing, but I can't remember what it was off the top of my head.  :(

Cute moment.
Jess had just changed Cooper's diaper and was playing with him when Eli walked up and said, "Hey! He's trying to ride a bike!"  This was as little brother was kicking his legs while lying on the floor.  Too funny.

It is quite frustrating that I can't remember the other one.  I can remember where we were, sitting in the car at the light waiting to turn.  I remember laughing so hard.  Now why.....hmmmmmmmmmmmm.   I hope it comes back to me.

Cuties

I'm posting one handed right now so there won't be a lot of text, but I'm one lucky momma.  I have a great hubby and the two most amazing little boys.

We love our BumGenius cloth diapers.

Handsome.

Cuteness!!

Snow!

When there is snow the big kids play.

 Eli and our neighbor, Juston.

Day 3. After playing and trampling the first heavy fall.  This is what was left after the second big dump.  We probably got a good 7-8 inches.  Eli loved it.

While the big kids play outside, the little one plays inside.

Holy Ice, Batman!

Snowmageddon has turned into an ice storm overnight.  We woke up with half an inch of ice covering everything.  EVERYTHING.
